By Dennis Mecca Resume writing may seem like the most daunting task ever. It is one of the most important things you must do if you hope to get the sought after interview with the decision maker. I can still recall a time in my early twenties that a job I had taken was not working out. It was a sales job at a company a friend was a partner in. After resigning my very stable job with a fortune 100 company and moving across the country, I found out it really wasn't everything I had hoped it would be. I should have asked more questions, but I was of the mindset that I could do anything I set my mind to. Anyway, I then had to write my own resume. It seemed like the most difficult thing to do and the pressure was on. Looking back on it now, I made it so difficult on myself. It's really not that hard. Take your time. Do your homework! It will pay off. Think of it as your ticket to get in the door to meet the decision maker. The bottom line is, that's your goal, to get your chance to say hello in person, to meet the decision maker and to get a sense of chemistry and move forward from there. There are so many resources available on the internet that were not available at that time. Some are free, while others charge for access. Fortunately for me, I had a good friend in Foster City that spent time with me to create my resume. Putting together a resume is the first step in the process. The next step is the interview.
