If you go to Japan and ask the women about shirataki or as it is sometimes know as konnyaku the first things you will hear about is how it is good to eat to keep slim. Shirataki and weight loss go hand in hand. For the American however not used to eating them one must know how to use the shirataki Miracle Noodle in a sensible plan for weight loss. Although a full treatment of this topic is beyond the scope of this short article. There are many principles that can be described to get a better understanding of shirataki and weight loss. 1. By Philip Nicosia Millions of people struggle with weight issues every yearand despite claims that a wonder diet can work for everybody, the fact is that each of those individuals have a medical history, a personality, or a lifestyle issue that affects whether or not that weight control technique will help them shed those pounds. But while nothing works for everybody, there is something that will work for youand the challenge is to find it, identify it, and stick to it. For some people, appetite control is extremely difficult. Needless to say, if you just want to drop a dress size for your wedding, you may not be ready to go into something long-term. But if you have health problems, and need to control cholesterol levels, then a short-term solution would not be very effective. Other weight loss programs are closely tied with exercise routines. Of course, not all exercise regimens will appeal to an individual; some would find yoga interesting, while others would prefer something like belly dancing. The idea is that one picks what is most interesting to themthe more fun and enjoyment they derive from a routine, the more likely they will stick to it. The mistake that many people make is that they dont consider their own lifestyle or personality when they try a diet or exercise regimen; they go with what everyone else is doing, or jump on the weight loss bandwagon on the premise that it worked for so-and-so. While its okay to experiment with different regimens (wouldnt hurt to try anything once), ultimately it is a search to find what is personally appealing. Another secret to maintaining a diet or exercise regimen is to have very clear and realistic goals. Be thin is too general to be meaningful; pinpoint a number, and a date: Lose 15 pounds by September. And to avoid discouragement, that goal must be humanly achievable and should never compromise with ones health. A Thought Is A Thought: Your Mind and Depression
By Lee Baucom Science has bought the whole "depression is a result of a chemical imbalance." We have whole theories about how a low level of serotonin in the brain leads to depression. So, we have a whole medicine industry that is caught up in the pursuit of healing depression through a chemical intervention. Yet medication has failed to bring about healing. Why? We missed the boat. Depression is rooted in our thoughts. Our minds become our own worst enemy. And we even have a theory about how to heal this: cognitive therapy. But a cognitive approach is not enough. It makes one central mistake. It keeps us rooted to our thoughts. You see, cognitive therapy is built on the idea that our thoughts are skewed. So, a cognitive therapy approach tries to help people look at how a thought is skewed, and then uses logic to help "fix" the thought. For example, a person notices a strange spot on his chest. He begins to think "something is wrong." He continues on with "this is cancer." And quickly arrives at the idea that "I'm going to die from this." All of this without a visit to a doctor! A cognitive therapist would point out that the person is "catastrophizing." In other words, his thought is being skewed from noticing a strange spot on his chest to seeing himself dead. So, the therapist would help the person begin to use some rational thought: at this point, there is a spot on his chest. Nothing more. And until there is more information, and other thought is dangerous. You may wonder what is wrong with this approach. And there is nothing wrong. It simply falls short of the real issue. Because a cognitive approach simply seeks to exchange a skewed thought with a more correct thought. But a thought is still the issue. The truth is this: A Thought Is Just A Thought! Some thoughts may be more useful, more helpful. But that makes it no more real. Our minds are designed to create thoughts. And our minds are incredibly capable of doing this. Sometimes, our minds come up with useful and helpful thoughts. And sometimes, our mind churns out painful and hurtful thoughts. But in the end, both are merely thoughts. When we buy into the thoughts, our mental health becomes more and more threatened. And that is the problem with the cognitive approach. It still leaves us believing our thoughts are real -- that they have some inherent truth or reality. The way out of this trap is both simple and difficult. Imagine a continuum, a line between two extremes. At one end is the idea that "A Thought Is Reality." At this extreme, people believe that whatever pops into their head is real. In other words, "if I think it, it is real." The extreme is what we know as psychosis. An example of this psychosis: if I believe the "World Army" is coming in black helicopters, then it must be true. No matter what others tell me, I simply choose to believe my thoughts. At the other end of the continuum is the idea that "A Thought Is A Thought." A person at this end is always aware that a thought in his or her head is simply that: a thought. And if a thought begins to torment him or her, then that person is able to take a step back, remember that a thought is just a thought, and let it go. "Let it go" is impossible, you think? Yet we do it every day. I am sitting in an important meeting, when suddenly my mind creates a thought about the fact that I have something very important to do. I follow that thought, but then remind myself: I am at an important meeting, and I need to focus on that. I refocus on the meeting, and indeed, I let the thought go. So, there it is, proof that a thought can be released. Thoughts really only have as much power as we give them. No more, no less. Become aware of your thoughts, and you master your universe. Fail to recognize that a thought is just a thought, and you are at the whims of your mind, a very difficult taskmaster! During a full moon, you are most likely to find fish hiding in the shadows. Don't ask why it's true, but that's what we have seen. When you find shadows on the water (from trees, etc), you know exactly where you need to cast your line. If the moonlight is not shining down on the water and there are no shadows, the fish will be much more scattered in the water, making your job of finding them much more difficult. On the other side of the coin, it seems like the fish are more likely to hit when the moon is hidden, either by clouds or a quarter moon. So, the real trick is to use the moon to determine how you are going to fish that particular night. If you have a bright, full moon, head for the shadows on the water. If you are on the water and the moon is nowhere in sight, you can go straight to your favorite spot and fish like you normally do, but expect to get more frequent and harder hits on your line. This tip is especially true for bass, but it works with virtually any kind of fish at night. Some fishermen swear they only fish during a full moon, others say no moonlight is best. The fear of rejection in front of a crowd sometimes scare away many prospective suitors. Look warm and friendly. An aloof and cold look does not attract anybody. In turn, it puts off many potential people from your circle. And if you think that your actions are unconsciously giving out these cold, stiff signals, immediately adjust it and act more polite and genteel. Dont be overbearing.
